Press Release

Sales & Marketing is all about LeaDs

Management by Trust Instead of Fear By Michael Campbell. Management by trust instead of fear. How positive rewards can get people to do what you want, be part of the team and work together in a happy environment. Management is the act of directing, guiding, controlling, administrating for a purpose. How one "manages" however, is usually up to the individual. Management of people, like teaching and training usually relies on positive or negative reinforcement for ones actions. Positive reinforcement can be thought of as building trust, whereas negative reinforcement can be thought of as spreading fear. Fear focuses on what was done wrong, puts people down, belittles them, makes them feel unworthy. Trust focuses on what was done right, looks at how much was achieved, makes people happy and more likely to perform even better the next time. Fear yells at the employees and makes public humiliation a weapon. People will start avoiding public contact with the manager. Trust talks quietly and never reprimands one employee in front of another. Everything that is said remains private, with one to one meetings held in a separate room.

Fear says don't do this, or you're fired, don't do that, or you're fired. Fear holds the job and never gives a sense it is truly yours. Trust leads by example and says do this, do that, gives power and decision making capability to the employee, making them feel the job is truly theirs to do.

No one likes a manager that uses fear. Employee turnover is likely to be very high. Employees probably won't care. They just punch the clock to get a paycheck. Everyone likes someone they can trust. With trust, employees are likely to put in years of service and take pride in the work they do.

Fear leads to animosity and bitterness between employees. They are not likely to develop friendships or good will towards each other. They are likely to compete against each other, rather than the true competition. Trust creates team players, employees that work together for the common good of the organization, realizing they are "in the same boat." Together - as a company - they sink or swim.

Fear leads employees to say, it wasn't me, it was like that when I found it, I don't know. Trust leads employees to be accountable for their actions, to learn from mistakes, so everyone can help each other from preventing the same mistake from happening again.

Fear destroys creativity and freezes employees into predictable mindless patterns, where they are afraid of change and self improvement. Trust spawns creativity where employees constantly think about better ways of doing their jobs, to anticipate and adapt to change, and not be afraid of failure, or trying new things.

As you can see, all behavior can be modified quite simply by using positive reinforcement. If the reinforcement happens at the same time as the action, it increases the likelihood that the positive action will happen again.

By being a positive person, setting a good example, offering encouragement, forgiving mistakes, talking quietly, people are more likely to listen to you. Especially if you reward them for a job well done. It could be a simple pat on the back, a handshake, or other little bonus like getting off early.

That's the most important thing of all, to recognize all the achievements, even the small ones. Say good catch if someone prevents a mistake. Say good job to a person in front of the other employees and supervisors. For positive reinforcement, recognition of an achievement, is the greatest motivator of all.

Remember, fear is all about punishment. It is an absence of love and compassion. It brings up painful emotions like anxiety, apprehension and dread. It is impending danger and the expectation of evil.

Trust is all about goodness. It is faith and belief in the integrity, confidence, reliance, and friendship of another person. It is certainty, dependence, assurance, an entirely positive state of mind.

What type of teacher, trainer, parent and manager will you be?

The 17-year-old is accused of stealing 4,000 euros (£2,840) worth of
virtual furniture, bought with real money.

Five 15-year-olds have also been questioned by police, who were
    contacted by the website's owners.

The six teenagers are suspected of moving the stolen furniture into
    their own Habbo rooms.

A spokesman for Sulake, the company that operates Habbo Hotel, said:
"The accused lured victims into handing over their Habbo passwords by
    creating fake Habbo websites.

"In Habbo, as in many other virtual worlds, scamming for other people's
personal information such as user names has been problematic for quite a
    while.

"We have had much of this scamming going on in many countries but this
is the first case where the police have taken legal action."

Habbo users can create their own characters, decorate their own rooms
and play a number of games, paying with Habbo Credits, which they have
    to buy with real cash.

"It is a theft because the furniture is paid for with real money. But
the only way to be a thief in Habbo is to get people's usernames and
passwords and then log in and take the furniture.

"We got involved because of an increasing number of sites which are
pretending to be Habbo. People might then try and log in and get their
    details stolen."

Six million people in more than 30 countries play Habbo Hotel each
    month.

Virtual theft is a growing issue in virtual worlds; in 2005 a Chinese
gamer was stabbed to death in a row over a sword in a game.

Shanghai gamer Qiu Chengwei killed player Zhu Caoyuan when he discovered
he had sold a "dragon sabre" he had been loaned.

I've set these things in motion to screw (can a $DIETY say that?) up the

I'll fix it before Sunday (it's my day of rest).

What is a "diety"? Is that like someone who is always on a diet?

That's what my head tells me (and really, if the weather is OK, I wouldn't
be surprised to see the Pats break all sorts of records in that game), but
my gut gets a little worried when people are already measuring the coffins
    for the Jets players.

I don't agree with the Jets giving up. I do agree they suck, but they try to
win every game. Just a matter of a lot of bad players on the team and not a
    very good HC.

A 12-year-old boy died Monday morning after he was hit by a girl during
morning recess at a Laurentians-area school north of Montreal, police said.

Provincial police said the children were arguing in the schoolyard in
Saint-Eustache and insulting each other when the quarrel escalated into a
    shoving match.

The 11-year-old girl allegedly punched the boy in the chest. The boy, who
was in Grade 6, then collapsed, according to eyewitness reports.

He was taken to hospital unconscious and died later. The girl has been
placed in the care of youth protection officials.

Officials at the Horizon-Soleil school said that neither of the two
students had a history of violence, but noted that the boy who died was
known by staff to have cardiac problems stemming from heart arrhythmia, or
    an irregular heartbeat.

Still, the boy was reportedly healthy enough to participate in gym class.

TOPIC: gov'ment says online gambling is illegal
    http://groups.google.com/group/alt.sports.football.pro.ne-patriots/browse_thread/thread/bf83601fdac03759?hl=en
    ==============================================================================

    == 1 of 2 ==
    Date: Tues, Dec 11 2007 10:01 am
    From: d3ad baby 3at3r

Even as Governor Deval Patrick seeks to license three resort casinos in
Massachusetts, he hopes to clamp down on the explosion in Internet
gambling by making it illegal for state residents to place a bet on
line. He has proposed jail terms of up to two years and $25,000 fines
    for violators.

The provision, buried deep in Patrick's bill to allow three casinos to
the state, puts the governor at odds with a fellow Democrat: US
Representative Barney Frank, the sponsor of federal legislation to
license and regulate online gambling nationally. Yesterday Frank
strongly criticized the governor's plan to punish online gamers while
inviting casino operators to set up shop.

"Why is gambling in a casino OK and gambling on the Internet is not?"
Frank said. "He's making a big mistake. He's giving opponents an
    argument against him."

A 46-year-old federal law prohibits betting using telephone lines, which
the US Department of Justice has interpreted as prohibiting all online
gambling. The government's policy has been to prosecute the operators of
Internet gambling sites, but not the gamblers.

Patrick's provision takes aim at both and would levy the same penalties
on either end of the transaction. Courts have been divided over the
legality of placing bets on line, and state laws vary on the issue.
Massachusetts currently has no prohibition, and if its ban is adopted.
it would join such states as Utah, Nevada, and Washington.

Patrick officials declined yesterday to explain the governor's rationale
for including the provision in the proposed legislation. They also would
    not respond to Frank's comments.

"Several of the provisions of the governor's proposed resort casinos
bill seek to clarify the laws relating to gaming in Massachusetts,
including online gaming," said Kofi Jones, spokeswoman for the
governor's chief gambling adviser, Daniel O'Connell, secretary of
economic development. Others suggested the provision was included to
make casino licenses more lucrative by preventing competition from
    online operators.

"If you were cynical about it, you'd think that they're trying to set up
a monopoly for the casinos," said David G. Schwartz, director of the
Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Patrick's casino legislation, which has been introduced at the State
House but is not expected to get a hearing until next year, would
license three casinos in three regions of the state. Casino developers
would bid on the licenses, and Patrick expects they would attract 10-
year licensing fees of $200 million to $300 million for each casino.

Since the first Internet casino went live in 1995, online gambling has
exploded nationwide. Users have flooded thousands of gambling sites,
punching in credit card numbers for the rights to play cyberbingo and
real-time poker from their homes. It still lags behind brick-and-mortar
casinos, but online gambling has become a formidable industry, totaling
$12 billion in 2005, according to Christiansen Capital Advisors, a
    Maine-based research firm.

Based on its reading of the 1961 Wire Act, which bans using telephone
line to place bets, the US Department of Justice contends that operating
online gambling sites is illegal, although most of the sites are
operated offshore and do not fall under US laws. Last year, Congress
approved a gambling bill that bars credit card companies from making
payments to online gambling websites, making it more difficult to place
bets. Frank's bill, which was filed earlier this year, would effectively
overturn that law and license and regulate online gambling in the United
    States.
"I believe in personal liberty," Frank said. "Adults should be able to
do what they want. I wish my fellow liberals would not be so
    inconsistent on this issue."

Patrick's provision, which is described in three paragraphs of the bill,
applies to anyone in Massachusetts who places or receives a wager of any
type using a telephone, cellphone, Internet, or local wireless networks.
It also applies to anyone who knowingly installs equipment for
transmitting wagers. The provision also specifically exempts the
    proposed casinos from the law.

It does not say specifically how the state would enforce the ban, but
the bill would establish an independent Gaming Control Authority and a
division of Gaming Investigation and Enforcement within the attorney
general's office, which would have broad powers to enforce regulations
    and investigate crimes.

But in trying to ban online gambling while expanding casinos, the
governor's administration appears to be alienating a constituency that
might otherwise support his gambling expansion.

The Poker Players Alliance, a group that says it represents the
interests of online gamblers, began a letter-writing campaign last week
and has generated 1,700 letters to the governor and various state
legislators. The Washington-based organization has 16,000 members in
Massachusetts, which is a fraction of what the alliance estimates are
the 250,000 online poker players in the state.

"I feel betrayed by the very existence of this legislation," the letter
read. "It's especially aggravating that this language is contained in a
larger bill to expand casino gambling in the Commonwealth. This contrast
    is utter hypocrisy."

The organization, which recently campaigned against Governor Ernie
Fletcher of Kentucky for nixing a proposed casino referendum, supports
the governor's proposal for three Massachusetts casinos, but plans to
    oppose the overall bill.

"It makes absolutely no sense to me," said Randy Castonguay, director of
the Massachusetts chapter of the Poker Players Alliance. "It's actually
kind of laughable if you think about it."

Laura Everett, spokeswoman for Casino Free Massachusetts, a coalition of
anticasino advocates, said that while some in the group may oppose
online gambling, the organization is focused on fighting brick-and-
mortar casinos. "We think the whole bill is a problem," she said. "One
provision is not going to make a difference."

Smart move, Deval. Now you'll have bookies taking $25k bets on whether or

Once again, Smith took it up to another level when he directed

I disagree. Its all part of point #3, humiliating your opponent. Sure,
it might cause them to "get up for the game" down the road, but it could
