Sales & Marketing is all about LeaDs

Management by Trust Instead of Fear By Michael Campbell. Management by trust instead of fear. How positive rewards can get people to do what you want, be part of the team and work together in a happy environment. Management is the act of directing, guiding, controlling, administrating for a purpose. How one "manages" however, is usually up to the individual. Management of people, like teaching and training usually relies on positive or negative reinforcement for ones actions. Positive reinforcement can be thought of as building trust, whereas negative reinforcement can be thought of as spreading fear. Fear focuses on what was done wrong, puts people down, belittles them, makes them feel unworthy. Trust focuses on what was done right, looks at how much was achieved, makes people happy and more likely to perform even better the next time. Fear yells at the employees and makes public humiliation a weapon. People will start avoiding public contact with the manager. Trust talks quietly and never reprimands one employee in front of another. Everything that is said remains private, with one to one meetings held in a separate room.

Fear says don't do this, or you're fired, don't do that, or you're fired. Fear holds the job and never gives a sense it is truly yours. Trust leads by example and says do this, do that, gives power and decision making capability to the employee, making them feel the job is truly theirs to do.

No one likes a manager that uses fear. Employee turnover is likely to be very high. Employees probably won't care. They just punch the clock to get a paycheck. Everyone likes someone they can trust. With trust, employees are likely to put in years of service and take pride in the work they do.

Fear leads to animosity and bitterness between employees. They are not likely to develop friendships or good will towards each other. They are likely to compete against each other, rather than the true competition. Trust creates team players, employees that work together for the common good of the organization, realizing they are "in the same boat." Together - as a company - they sink or swim.

Fear leads employees to say, it wasn't me, it was like that when I found it, I don't know. Trust leads employees to be accountable for their actions, to learn from mistakes, so everyone can help each other from preventing the same mistake from happening again.

Fear destroys creativity and freezes employees into predictable mindless patterns, where they are afraid of change and self improvement. Trust spawns creativity where employees constantly think about better ways of doing their jobs, to anticipate and adapt to change, and not be afraid of failure, or trying new things.

As you can see, all behavior can be modified quite simply by using positive reinforcement. If the reinforcement happens at the same time as the action, it increases the likelihood that the positive action will happen again.

By being a positive person, setting a good example, offering encouragement, forgiving mistakes, talking quietly, people are more likely to listen to you. Especially if you reward them for a job well done. It could be a simple pat on the back, a handshake, or other little bonus like getting off early.

That's the most important thing of all, to recognize all the achievements, even the small ones. Say good catch if someone prevents a mistake. Say good job to a person in front of the other employees and supervisors. For positive reinforcement, recognition of an achievement, is the greatest motivator of all.

Remember, fear is all about punishment. It is an absence of love and compassion. It brings up painful emotions like anxiety, apprehension and dread. It is impending danger and the expectation of evil.

Trust is all about goodness. It is faith and belief in the integrity, confidence, reliance, and friendship of another person. It is certainty, dependence, assurance, an entirely positive state of mind.

What type of teacher, trainer, parent and manager will you be?

I protest to you calling me a troll when all I did was contribute to
the current thread, unlike yourself who only seems content on stalking
me and hanging on every last words that I say. In fact it is only your
behavior which is provocative, and therefore you are the pot calling
the kettle black, and another in the long list of hypocrites who
    feature in this newsgroup.

You are clearly disturbed for some strange reason.

And, you impulsive muppet, bile is for emulsifying fats...can't I be
pancreatic enzymes or something that digests protein instead?

Don't worry, Barca won't do something silly like that. Instead we'll
sell Ronaldinho when his price tag is high and buy some real talent
for half the price of the players above.

Mate you can protest as much as you want, in fact I think you do
protest too much ! If I am disturbed it is because of trolls like you
who spew forth garbage whenever possible regarding the English and the
    EPL.

You can be whatever you want to be laddie as long as you do it in a
balanced and fair manner. However I do think from what I have seen
    that this is beyond you.

Now if you are not a troll you will do everyone a favour and refuse to
reply to me. The ball is in your court, how about you smash it over
    fence ?

No, it's because they just are not worth that money. You'll have a
very hard time convincing even those in this group that Ferdinand is
worth even 20mill these days, muppet boy. It owes to the fact that the
English over hype their players and put them way beyond their real
market value. That is all. It's the same song and dance. Hype hype
hype....I think Snoop Dog had something to say about that. Kids your
age should know what I am referring to, ya?

You are not as clever as you think. Trying to bind me with a
ridiculous consequence that no one other than yourself is going to put
any weight on is not going to silence me you muppet. Whether you like
it or not I will continue to hang around and smash myths such as those
that have a death grip on your mind. Eventually you will thank me for
    liberating you.

I am 52 yrs old loser. As I have said no Man Utd supporter, least of
all Sir AF have ever quibbled at the price of their players, least of
all the ones you have mentioned. Rooney is a hero to the Man Utd fans
and they adore Rio. Why should it bother you Barca fan ? The fact you
would even mention it indicates that you are a troll.

just as well because everyone else thinks you are..........well let us
    just say otherwise.

bellyache, whinge, complete nutcases? What on God's green Earth are
you talking about. You think that simply because I pointed out that
the EPL has more foreigners than Englishmen, and the top four clubs
are almost all foreign with 78% foreign content and thus fuelled
primarily by foreign talent that I have a bellyache? Nay I say, rather
it is you who seems to have the belly ache, impulsively following me
into any thread I contribute to with insane ramblings, provocative
insults, and general trollish behavior, contributing nothing of
significance to the general database of football knowledge.

The EPL teams have been doing well ever since they've packed their
teams with foreign talent. Indeed. And the EPL is currently the
richest league in Europe and has a large monopoly on tv contracts so
gets the widest exposure to the unfortunate youth these days who have
little choice but to watch it and get drawn into the hype about it.
The fact is that a Serie A team currently sits a top of world club
football, the Spanish league leads in UEFA's criteria for strongest
league, and Italy is the best team in Europe. None of these are
English in any way, and that obviously bothers you.

What bothers me are fools like you who constantly write negative crap
regarding the EPL. Now true EPL watchers and supporters also happen to
recognise the quality and depth of both La Liga and Serie A....and
vica versa I would say. No one here, least of all me has ever denied
that Spanish clubs have the better record in Europe, or that AC Milan
are indeed deserved CL and W Club champions. It is you have denied the
credibility of EPL clubs, both in the past and present. You are on a
crusade, a mission to denigrate the EPL at every opportunity. Your
posting history confirms that. That makes you a troll.

The reason why you might intepret the facts as being negative could be
because you are approaching them from a negative set to begin with.
Therefore, as I've been trying to help you recongize from the
beginning, the problem is within you.

    >Now true EPL watchers and supporters also happen to
    > recognise the quality and depth of both La Liga and Serie A....

Two leagues which are far superior indeed.

    > vica versa I would say. No one here, least of all me has ever denied
    > that Spanish clubs have the better record in Europe,

Oh really? It seems you are the author of the thread entitled "The EPL
is officially the best !" I guess what you are now admitting to is
that you rescind your earlier opinion and have upgraded it due to the
information I have provided you. In that case, I have done you a
service and you shouldn't be so negative and angry with me.

    >or that AC Milan
    > are indeed deserved CL and W Club champions. It is you have denied the
    > credibility of EPL clubs, both in the past and present.

Nah, I've only initially suggested that the EPL be renamed the EbFPL,
English-based Foreigners Premier Leauge because ever since the money
started flowing towards the EPL the clubs and owners have been going
out and buying talent from outside of England to keep the teams
somewhat competitive. This has upgraded the quality of football in
England to say the least, but it remains that this is a result of the
foreigners. I've only mentioned that, and you and Higgs have gone to
great lengths to try and discredit me, to no avail. You both look
foolish in your attempts and I am having a good laugh at how obsessed
    you two are with me.

This makes you and Higgs trolls, liars. Being unknowledgable is the
least of your worries. I'd get rid of the hate first.

And that's pretty much the rub.

All the top Euro club teams use foreign players, to a greater or even
    greater extent.

That people like Barca whinge and whine about how unfair it is that
Chelsea, Liverpool etc use foreign-born players is simply laughable
when he's a fan-boy of Barcelona, a team who are currently fielding a
host of foreign-born players themselves, and have been for at least 50
    years.
It's even more laughable when he tries to counteract this by claiming
to be a fan of Italy, and then lecture people about how the Italian
clubs don't use foreign-born players and that Italy had a long period
when foreign players were completely banned from Serie A and the
culmination of this was Italy winning the WC in 1982!

    This is simply a fantasy.

Indeed, and all of your own making.

But let's hear it again Higgs. Tell us how we are all liar because
there was no foreigner ban in Italy from 1966-1980. Please?

What about telling us that catennacio is simply playing defensively?
How about your undestanding of UEFA's coefficient system? Then tell us
how much you know about football,
and top it off by calling me names because I exposed you.

Maybe we should call you Dr Barca from now on then.

The fact that you would even suggest renaming the EPL proves you are a
troll. Of course good players from overseas has upgraded the
competition, which is arguing otherwise. No genuine supporter of the
EPL is bothered about the number of oversea players in the EPL. The
only person I can see who is is who you moron.

If I am obsessed with you, then I guess that makes you my sweetheart
    Barca.

Stop changing the subject troll. You have been caught denigrating the
EPL for your own perverse pleasure.

I get the feeling that you just can't help responding to me. Why is
that? Oh yes, you said so in another thread a few days
    back...ownership...

Also, you still haven't explained what there was to find out?

I've spread nothing but the truth.

    Truths I've spoken of:

1 - The EPL is more than 50% foreign, and the top 4 clubs are 78%
    foreign content

2 - Italy and Spain are the two most successful nations in European
    Club Football

3 - There actually was a ban on foreigners from 1966-1980 in the Serie
A despite all of Higgs lame attempt to deny this. It is well
    documented. Some players
managed to slip through for a variety of reasons.

4 - UEFA's coefficients have La Liga as the top league in Europe not
    the EPL

5 - Historically the English have been critical of the Italian style
of play, citing it to be negative
and destructive. This is not just tabloid nonsense, unless you
want to confirm that the English
football commentators work for tabloids. There is constant
reference to this in games they
comment on when Italy play. The interesting thing is that now that
    the English FA understand
that they have no one competent in their own home they go out and
    hire an Italian coach that
epitomises all of those negative stereotypes, and although he does
    not play catennacio he is
very defense orientated and will have England playing a style that
    has been criticized as being
catennacio in the past (Capello's style of course). This is most
    amusing. What is even more
amusing are that English fans who have undoutedly called Italy
    negative, now have a coach
that will make them play "negatively" and they are embracing it.
    Pure HYPOCRISY. :))
*note* It is impossible to feel hatred for Hypocrites, just
    pity.

6 - In the first recorded International match between Scotland and
    England it is also well
documented that the Scotts thoroughly confused the English with
    their passing game. This
was a concept that the English did not understand at that time as
    they believed that you take
the ball and run (they called it dribbling) with it as far as you
can go before losing it and some
other player taking over. Thus the Scotts taught the English a
    very important lesson here.
*note #2* if I was an Anglo-Phobe like you or your muppet friend
    Higgs earlier suggested,
would I be praising the Scotts for their brave display of football
    historically? Indeed, I would
not, therefore your accusations have no grounds.

7 - You are obsessed with me as evidenced by your constant following
    me around to every
thread simply to call me names, never putting forth any relevant
    football content. Therefore
you are the mad man who cannot control yourself. I've had to
    educate you now about a
dozen times on historical facts that well versed fan should be
    knowledgable in.

I dare you to refute any of these claims that I have addressed.

You will not, because you cannot, proving that you are the troll.

Point, set, match. Thank you Mr. Referee and Linesmen, thank you ball
boys, and a special thanks to all my fans out there....

Like I said from the outset, you obviously knew nothing about the ban,
and since then you've lied and tried to misrepresent me as you've dug
    a bigger hole for yourself

The key word is SIGNING, as Benny pointed out.

Your claim that all foreigners were banned from 66 onwards is patently
    false.

You got taught a lesson (and the funny thing is, you don't even
    realise it).

Continual lies are basically what everyone expects from you, and you
    don't disappoint

LOL, you snipped the rest of it Higgs, how come? Not embarrassed
    enough yet? :))))

    Here you go:

He (Higgs) has already been told, but he can't read. He's a moron. We
    all already know this.

    Barca: (Dec 18, 2007)
    "...the ban allowed for foreigners
who were already on the teams to stay but no new ones to come..."
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/e838faafa1d28f96?dmode=source

    and...

    MH (Dec 23, 2007):
"It was not a partial ban. They were not allowed to sign foreign
    players. "
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/3b7af97ec73b93a5?dmode=source

Higgs doesn't know much, and it has been a pleasure exposing him...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriundo
    http://www.planetworldcup.com/GUESTS/matt20040222.html
    http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/articles/chinagliagg.html
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_foreign_Serie_A_players

    Why stop here Higgs?

Hey by why stop there. You're the idiot that thought I was just

    Higgs said:
"Putting forward a bunch of historical results as to when LL was
considered stronger and ignoring the current ranking seems a pretty
    silly way of doing it."

when I presented UEFA's coefficient rankings that objectively prove
that Spain is still the "official" best league in Europe:
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/crank2008.html

You even were dumb enough to come up with this gem after:

    Higgs:
"How about putting forward rankings from the early 70s when Ajax &
Feyenoord were EC1 champs and then claiming the Dutch League is
    currently the strongest? "
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/e04ab4cd3067f963?...

Clearly revealing that you hadn't a single idea that I was actually
posting the current rank, as per UEFA.

How about the time when you denied that the EPL has the highest
concentration of foreigners? And how many times has it been where
you've claimed to be an expert on catennacio but refuse to explain
what it is? Four, five? Who's counting anyhow? ;)

    Barca:
"Oh dear, you clearly don't understand what catennacio is, do you?"

    Higgs:
"Actually, I know only too well."

Now that you've been told by 7 seperate sources I'd like for you to
deny that there was a ban on foreigners from 1966-1980 Higgs, then
call me a liar and someone who doesn't know anything :))) PLEASE :)))

    :)))

    Higgs says:
    > Like I said from the outset, you obviously knew nothing about the ban,

Nah that was you. You went from calling me a liar, to pretending you
knew that it existed. You sad muppet.

You searched for what? 1 week to collect all the details? It was all
there for you Higgs. Wipe the egg off your face, there's nothing you
can do to hide from this uberly embarrassing moment.

    Barca (Dec 17, 07):
"You do know there was a foreigner ban in Italy from 1966 till 1980,
    right?"
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/9951c2a4d16a9ac0?dmode=source

    Alkami (Dec 17, 07):
"Actually I did not know that since I didnt get into the game until
about 1982. The point however still stands, that in the 80s Italy was
the prime importer of foreign players while having a very successful
    national side."
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/9951c2a4d16a9ac0?dmode=source

Higgs (dumbass) goes from (Dec 18, 07):
"The reason you didn't know that is because it simply isn't true.Don't
believe a word that lying little turd says."
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/9951c2a4d16a9ac0?dmode=source

    Higgs (Dec 23, 2007):
"Just how serious was this foreigner ban?"
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/1736693b0aadbca8?dmode=source

    MH (Dec 23, 2007):
"It was pretty serious- there was an extended period when clubs were
    not
allowed to sign any foreign players."
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/176f67065de1e9dd?dmode=source

    Higgs (Dec 26, 2007):
"I guess this is the part that most surprises me. The partial ban..."
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/43d675ce6504b642?dmode=source

    MH (Dec 26, 2007):
"It was not a partial ban. They were not allowed to sign foreign
    players."
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/43d675ce6504b642?dmode=source

    Higgs responds:
    "But that's a moveable criteria. "

lol, moveable? Why is that, only because it proves you wrong? Where
would you like to move it to muppet boy? :))))

Hey Higgs is your lie that Giggs played for the English U21 team
    moveable too?

    Higgs (Dec 24, 2007):
    " Giggs played U21 for England "
    MH (Dec 26, 2007):
"WRONG! he played for England schoolboys, which he was entitled to do
since he went to school in England. He was never eligible to play for
England U21 or any other England team. Look it up." - OWNED AGAIN
    http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.soccer/msg/ee496d8e03e0f110?dmode=source

This is fun. It's just not fair for you is it Higgs. It's like going
fishing with dynamite...not fair at all.
BTW Higgs, I really do own you :)))
